Ian has been Head of Water Resources at the Environment Agency since 2002. He is responsible for the management and long-term strategic planning of water resources across England and Wales.
Prior to his current role Ian was Head of the National Water Demand Management Centre, (which has now been integrated into his department). He was previously Water Resources Manager for Environment Agency Wales and spent much of his early career in a variety of roles with Yorkshire Water and the National Rivers Authority.
Ian is a member of the Prince of Wales Business & Environment Programme and also a board member of Envirowise.
Martin is Deputy Chief Executive at the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, with responsibility for strategy and external engagement. His work includes the development of national and international standards on environmental management, helping public and private sector organisations to improve their environmental and economic performance. Martin is also actively engaged in raising the profile of the environmental profession and in developing skills for a low-carbon and resource efficient economy.
Jim is Chairman of SEAL Ltd an environmental company based in Burgess Hill, whose equipment is used to test nearly all the drinking water in the UK. He was appointed to the Board of SEEDA the Development Agency for the South East of England in December 2001. He was awarded the CBE for services to the Sussex economy in the New Year’s Honours 2001. He was also awarded an Honorary Degree from University College Chichester in 2003 and became an Honorary Fellow of City & Guilds in February 2006 and a Councillor in September 2006. In October 2007 Jim was appointed as Honorary Consul for South Africa in the South East England.
David Butler is Professor of Water Engineering at the University of Exeter and formerly professor and head of the Urban Water Research Group (UWRG) at Imperial College London. He has a degree in civil & structural engineering from University College Cardiff, and a masters and doctorate in public health engineering from Imperial College. He is a chartered civil engineer and a chartered environmentalist, and a Fellow of both ICE and CIWEM. He has some 25 years experience in the water industry. He specialises in sustainable urban water management, water conservation and recycling, integrated modelling of urban water systems, spatial water management, operational management of stormwater runoff and flooding, in-sewer processes and decision support tool development.

Started career working in the water industry for Anglian Water in various scientific posts. Qualified in microbiology and worked in establishing the quality of environmental and drinking waters.
In 1992 joined the Drinking Water Inspectorate working on the enforcement of the drinking water regulations by technical audit of water companies and the investigation of water quality incidents.
In 2002 moved to Head of Branch in the Water Supply and Regulation Division of Defra. The branch has policy responsibility for drinking water quality and water conservation.
Currently working on policies to promote water conservation through demand management to drive the sustainable development of water resources. This involves working on leakage management, promotion of water efficient products and behaviours as well as working with CLG to develop improved standards of sustainability for new homes and developments.
Erica's expertise lies in improving efficiency and sustainable business practice. She joined Business Link in 2005 after she began her Masters in Sustainable Development.
Prior to her MSc, Erica worked in marketing, advertising, public relations and production development for large plc companies. She has had a vast range of experience working with major retailers on the High Street and DIY manufacturers. Having worked in large companies that employ thousands of people, a co-operative and having her own small business, Erica is fully equipped to give advice to businesses of all sizes on a number of issues, ranging from marketing and company development to sustainability and efficiency.
Andrew joined FDF as Director of Sustainability and Competitiveness in Janaury 2009, after a long and varied career in the Civil Service. He joined MAFF from Cambridge, with a degree in Modern Languages. Shortly after initial training, he spent 18 months at the Ecole Nationale d'Administration (ENA) in Paris before returning to posts dealing with EU Common Agriculture and Fisheries Policies. He was later First Secretary in the UK Permanent Representation in Brussels and had a further secondment to the FCO as Counsellor (Agriculture and Economic) at the British Embassy in Paris.
His subsequent postings in MAFF and then Defra centred on EU and international trade and commodity issues. Most recently he was a Deputy Director in the Natural Environment Group, responsible for Environmental Stewardship schemes and other land management issues. Andrew was awarded a CBE in 2006 for services to Defra, having successfully led negotiations on EU sugar reform under the UK Presidency.
Graham was appointed to the South East Water board in December 2007 and previously served as Chairman of the former Mid Kent Water company. Graham has also chaired the Institute of Civil Engineers Water board and the South East Water Forum. A former deputy managing director of Southern Water, Graham most recently worked at Water UK where he was Director of Water Services.
Claire Sweeney has worked in the environmental field for 10 years. She leads the Envirowise Water Team, and is responsible for the delivery of projects designed to reduce business water consumption.
Claire is also a member of the team responsible for the Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme for Water Efficient Technologies.
Prior to working in consultancy, she worked for the Environment Agency for 3 years regulating the Water and Waste industries and responding to pollution incidents.
Paul is Head of Water Resource Economics at Ofwat. His team is responsible for making sure that water companies in England and Wales maintain an economic, sustainable balance between the supply and demand for water and sewerage services.
Paul is an economist by training. He began his career at H M Treasury and the Bank of England before joining Ofwat in 1997. He became Head of Tariffs in 2001, moving to his current role in 2007.
